We are very sorry to announce that due to the Covid-19 lockdown, the forum has been canceled this year. Its main purpose was to allow students to interact, and that will not be possible to do efficiently via remote presentations. Hence, the forum loses its main rationale for existing.
For the first time in Romania, in May 2020 we will organize a forum for PhD students in control engineering, computer science, and testing – within the 2020 IEEE International Conference on Automation, Quality and Testing, Robotics (AQTR 2020), http://aqtr.ro/.
The key aim of the forum is to promote cooperation between young researchers in these areas, as well as to make their work more widely known in the community. In addition, it will allow an excellent opportunity for PhD students to get feedback from established experts in the field. We welcome students both from Romania and from abroad. The forum will be organized as a special poster session on one day of the conference.
Interested PhD students are invited to submit an extended abstract of 2 pages. Submissions should use the IEEE conference paper template, available for LaTeX and Word at https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html.
By submitting a contribution, the authors agree that in case of acceptance, they will pay the registration as described below and defend their work at AQTR'20 as a poster. All submissions should be made electronically as a PDF file, by emailing this file to lucian.busoniu@aut.utcluj.ro, together with a proof of PhD student status. Submissions will be reviewed by the technical committee for correctness, relevance, significance, and style.
Accepted contributions become part of the Informal Digest of the IEEE-AQTR conference. The informal contributions will not be sent for indexing by IEEE Xplore. Instead, the Informal Digest will be made available to all AQTR attendees in electronic format. Thus, it is e.g. possible to send a brief version of an already published work that the student wants to promote more widely; or a preliminary version of early work that will later by published in a more complete version in another conference or in a journal.
PhD students may choose to participate to:
The Ph.D. forum technical committee will examine all the papers defended during the poster session, checking the technical content of the paper as well as the defense performance of the candidates, to select the Best Ph.D. Forum Paper. The Ph.D. Forum Award will be announced during the AQTR'20 closing session.
For more information, please email the PhD Forum Chair, Lucian Busoniu, at lucian.busoniu@aut.utcluj.ro, or the conference organizers.
